On My Belly

Speak to me as you would to

one of your prophets. Speak to me

before I dry out, before I corrupt the very

light I swore to keep. Help me

out of this fire that turns

like a heap of twisted cut wire

inside. Help me inside

not to be so broken, better

than my circumstantial mess.

Speak to me for a long time

until I know for sure

that you care.
