Sold out by the

something-once-beautiful.

Under the canopy of my heart

the singing happens but does not happen

the way I can explain.

The burn behaves and then explodes

like a blood-lust never fully under control.

There is nothing to gain

by maintaining the same ongoing pattern.

It must be re-directed, surprised

by its flow to be of any critical use.

The line I thought was mercy was merely

sabotage.

The line I can never come back from

is the line constantly underfoot.
