Faith

Faith

 .

It is found,

found in a pocket on a jacket

that has not been worn for years.

It is an emblem of uncharted kindness

that cannot fade even when I falter.

It is a name on a wall

that changes but is always mine.

It is the end result, the start of all

things good.

It is not going to leave me, or seep

through the mattress, underground.

It is so beautiful, it has the whole of my being.

It is speaking to me from billboard signs,

from the ones I loved and lost.

It is the parcel I have been waiting for.

It is my graduation party,

my only hope for recovery.

It is warmth and well being.

It is Friday night.

It is a star-shaped candy,

and it is found.

“Allison Grayhurst intertwines a potent spirituality throughout her work so that each poem is not simply a statement or observation, but a revelation that demands the reader’s personal involvement. Grayhurst’s poetic genius is profound and evident. Her voice is uniquely authentic, undeniable in its dignified vulnerability as it is in its significance,” Kyp Harness, singer/songwriter, author.

“Allison Grayhurst’s poems are like cathedrals witnessing and articulating in unflinching graphic detail the gritty angst and grief of life, while taking it to rare clarity, calm and comfort. Grayhurst’s work is haunting, majestic and cleansing, often leaving one breathless in the wake of its intelligence, hope, faith and love amidst the muck of life. Many of Allison Grayhurst’s poems are simply masterpieces. Grayhurst’s poetry is a lighthouse of intelligent honour… indeed, intelligence rips through her work like white water,” Taylor Jane Green, Registered Spiritual Psychotherapist and author.

  2. renokingswordsnpoetry – Dallas, Texas – Hello! My name is Reno King Lawrence. I love poetry, art, photography, music, and more music!! Welcome to my blog! It is here where I share my poetry, some photography, and perhaps a project or two I deem worthy of sharing.   -- My world view holds that the universe and all that is in it, has a designer; The divinity of such a spirit was here before all, and is all. I am humbled that I have awareness to experience this miracle, that I am sought after with intense love, and because of that "Love" I am able to confidently seek back in order to comprehend the length, width, height, and depth of this love. This lens I see the world through brings to visibility a trove of perspective - a dimension of priceless visual insights, intuitions, not yet suited to words, which greatly move and inspire me to piece and puzzle together expressions of words and poetry. I feel extremely grateful to be an instrument of rendering, bringing to these pages all that I see. In addition to my poetry, and photography, I have played harmonica since I was 13. I have had opportunities to play in blues bands with amazing musicians here in Dallas. I also draw on a rare occasion and may dabble with paints. I am a native Californian, born in Los Angeles and raised in the burbs of the San Gabriel Valley. I spent 3-years in the Pacific Northwest (Olympia/Lacey, WA) in 1978-81, and have taken a residence in Dallas, Tx. since 2006. I have been in printing for over 25 years, currently working for a U.S owned International commercial & specialty retail packaging company, Dallas division, as the Senior Manufacturing Planner.   Some words that best describe me: spiritual, grateful, introspective, philosophical, artistic, intuitive, analytical, sensitive, vulnerable, courageous, articulate, humorous, soulful, creative, goofy, awkward, much to say, friendly, continually improving, my Myers Briggs type is INFP.
