They told me of

They told me of

a Secret colour.

I crossed the ancient hills,

I bound my foot on heaven’s shore,

bewildered at the seas.

I went down with jealousy’s riddled truths.

I saw what I could not do,

could not cure

my envious heart.

But if I was like unfailed purity

with eyes like a child in

the rising morn . . .

And if I was translating prayers,

daughter of

the aspiring dreamers . . .

then the milk of my muse

I would be gargling

and bid for wanting

no more.
