This Day

This Day

Is this the day

we fall free into a reverie

of tranquil totality,

no more groping for fulfilment

in the plastic-container stacks

left outside our door?

Is this the day

when we release all damaging alliances,

when we can seek

without the weighted past

tethered in chains to our heels?

Is this the day

of metaphysical reckoning,

when reason sharpens, reforms to merge

with our own devotion –

ideals and reality become the same

this day, this existence – a dissolution

of repetitive efforts and suffering –

where life and truth yield equally

each into the other?
